A movie where the script and dialogues are quite frank and real. The movie introduced a few characters whom not everyone would meet up in our day to day life but exists.

Trivandrum Lodge somehow has enough rooms to accommodate these characters. A movie delivered a message that every one has their own perspective to the way they look at life and the way they live it. I enjoyed it but certain dialogues are so frank that you may end up feeling embarrassed if you are sitting next to your parents. If you are someone looking out for a great story line, you may be a bit dejected as this is a series of events at least a few of us have experienced. If not you should at least get to experience through this movie.

Story: The film revolves around a group of residents who live in a lodge and share a strong bond. Movie Review: Trivandrum Lodge captures a bold theme. The effect is less shocking and more absorbing for it tickles the taut prudish sensibilities in a smooth, matter-of-fact manner. There are a few characters nursing their own frustrations and aspirations. But the central character is an inanimate, old, smelly lodge with stuffy interiors. The building draws its life from its inhabitants.

There is a flinty-faced Abdu (Jayasurya) who longs for his first sexual experience. He finds a guide, on amorous matters, in a retired government servant who has a deep desire to make love to a uniformed lady constable. The lodge welcomes a new resident, a divorced female writer whose luxuriant curls are as inviting as her searching glances, hardly contained within the spectacles. Trivandrum Lodge dabbles in a set of complex human emotions.

But Anoop Menon lends a touch of artistry to some scenes by giving them a swathe of humour. When an irresistibly charming woman, robed in a loose, fluttering night-wear complains to her male lodge-mates about her sprained neck, the mood at the lodge smoulders. It is stoked further as the woman, slowly undoes her cloth just enough to reveal her well-toned neck. Abdu is to feel his first touch of a woman. But the tension soon erupts into a gracious chuckle as a host of men pace up and down, restlessly, outside the closed room. Sometimes, it also works the other way around.

A horny youth ends up in a prostitute’s home, bathes at midnight, finds a man in the room, discovers that it is her husband and walks out instantly. He is not angry, he just feels weak and it turns out to be one of the finest moments in the film. Amidst all these expressions of lust, there are also moments that breathe tenderness. When a school-boy loses his love due to a misunderstanding, he is not spiteful. When the girl smiles at him, he looks gratified. Honey Rose as writer Dhwani easily conceals and unfurls a lustful self, straddling along subtle, momentary bouts of love and longing. Jayasurya plays Abdu with an earnestness that adds genuine humour to the narrative.
